What is GlossaryBase.com?
Let’s start with this scenario: as soon as you accept a new translation or linguistic project, you go through the document involved and figure out its orientation, specialization and objective. Next, you will define your needs in terms of terminology sources to help you advance in your job. This is where you start looking for glossaries and Translation Memories. You either have them or search for them elsewhere. These searches would consume a lot of time, effort and energy that could have been devoted working on your project. After all, you have a deadline to respect and a quality to guarantee. This is, in fact, where GlossaryBase.com comes in!
GlossaryBase.com was founded for the purpose of helping language professionals in quickly and freely locating glossaries and translation memories that would help them with their language-related jobs. GlossaryBase.com is where you can buy, sell or trade glossary and TM files online.
Why should I use GlossaryBase.com?
Because it is your shortest and easiest way to procure or offer glossary and TM documents necessary for your translation jobs or jobs of colleagues. A glossary or TM is an essential asset to any linguist anywhere. Building a glossary is a time-consuming task. Acquiring one which would make us save time and energy would undoubtedly be welcomed.
Who can join and post glossary entries and who cannot?
All language professionals are encouraged to join. Moreover, and in order for us to maintain a high level of quality and professionalism, we track and confirm the status of every member who joins our site.
Is membership free to this site? And how many listings am I allowed?
Yes, membership is completely free. Every member has the right to freely post up to 5 listings on our site. Every listing (sell or trade proposal) can include one document in the form of a sample glossary or TM.
Can I add my personal details to my listings?
Yes, you can. Although every listing includes a form allowing users to get directly in touch with the listing owner, the latter may choose to include his/her own email address (or other contacts such as telephone, Skype, Yahoo, MSN, Google Chat, AOL or other IM coordinates…) to the body of his/her listing.
Do you take commissions on sales?
No, we do not take any form of commissions on all listing activity.
Can I post translation jobs on GlossaryBase.com?
Unfortunately, you cannot post translation jobs directly within any listing on GlossaryBase.com. We can recommend a multitude of translation-related job portals to you. We strive to keep the purpose of GlossaryBase.com as it should be all the way.
I wish to be added to your Featured Members page. Can you give me details on this issue?
Of course you can. We would, first, need to confirm your affiliation to the language profession. Once done, we would require that you post not less than three listings on our site within a period of three months. Afterwards, we would gladly add your name and details to our Featured Members page.
